Hi! Iām Berto.
(they/them)
My interest in bodywork stems from a lifetime interest in bodies; training in dance from a young age all the way through a college BFA, as well as struggling with a connective tissue disease most of my life. As a massage therapist I strive to collaborate with my clients and to make space for healing. I believe healing is not linear and often involves being present with (and without judgement of) our pain. I use a variety of techniques from my 6 years of professional experience to help my clients find relief and change.

Modalities
-
An especially light modality used with conditions that present with swelling and inflammation. It is particularly useful in cases of post-operative recovery such as plastic and orthopedic surgery. It can also help manage conditions like lymphedema.
-
Commonly known as trigger point work, NMT is a powerful tool for helping injuries ranging from acute to chronic.
-
This modality is based in the hands-on work of Osteopath Jean-Pierre Barral. Its core principles are that very small, gentle adjustments to the internal organs produce changes in all of the body tissues. Great for pesky chronic pain.
-
Based in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupressure is the gentle pressing of energetic points in the body. These points can increase relaxation of the nervous system as well as enliven and energize the body.
